A New SG For Modern Times
The newly refreshed Gibson SG™ Modern bridges the gap between two legendary designs. It retains the sleek, double-cutaway silhouette that made the SG an icon while featuring a mahogany back capped with an AA maple top—a pairing often found on Les Paul™ models. This combination delivers all the resonant warmth and sustain players expect from a Gibson guitar.
An asymmetrical SlimTaper™ mahogany neck provides a comfortable grip at every position, and the 24-fret ebony fingerboard has a compound radius that keeps chording smooth near the nut and facilitates effortless bends further up. Mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays lend an upscale touch, and Grover® Mini Rotomatics® tuners maintain precise tuning through everything from subtle riffs to full-on shredding. The Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece anchor the strings, ensuring accurate intonation and plenty of sustain.
At the heart of the SG Modern’s versatile sound are Burstbucker™ Pro neck and Burstbucker Pro + lead pickups with Alnico 5 magnets. Both volume knobs include push/pull coil taps, offering a choice between Gibson humbucker™ fullness and a single-coil bite that recalls the classic P-90 voice. The result is an instrument that comfortably covers a wide range of styles—from laid-back blues and R&B to aggressive rock and metal. Clear Top Hat knobs complete the contemporary aesthetic, giving a sleek finishing touch to this modern reimagining of a timeless classic.
